Australia

Our very first Anthro Kid club event was so much fun! We heard from our cultural expert of the month: Claire! She shared lots of cool facts and photos about her native country. We also got to taste some yummy treats direct from the land down under AND do a fun craft that represented a piece of culture belonging to the Australian Aboriginals. And finally the evening was complete with each kid receiving their shiny new Australia pin to start their collection. Soon enough we will be handing out hats too!

If your child wasn’t able to attend our Australia night, here are some fun things your family can do together to experience a hint of Australian culture.

  • Visit the Nashville Zoo and check out the section devoted to Australian animals!

  • Check out some fun books about Australia from the library.

  • Listen to the music of Australian kids musician: Don Spencer.

  • Order some Tim Tam’s and Milo and do a Tim Tam Slam! (This was introduced to the club by Claire’s son) Bite a corner off each end of the Tim Tam and suck milk (or Milo if you have some) through the cookie…ahem I mean “Bikky” like a straw. Believe me, its delish!

  • Make Fairy Bread and watch an episode of Bluey, listening for all the fun Australian lingo!

I hope you will enjoy just a hint of at-home Australian culture! Don’t stop there, encourage your kiddos to discover more through books and more. And be sure to join us for next months event on April 21st where we will learn all about Bulgaria! Its going to be a blast!
